How to Boil a Hot Dog in a Microwave?
This process is really easy and all you need here is:
- A pack of hot dogs
- A microwave-safe plate
- A piece of paper towel
You should take a plate and place a wet paper towel onto it. Then place your hot dogs on the plate and wrap them in the paper towel. Then simply put the plate in the microwave and turn it on medium temperature.
You should cook your hot dogs for about 30 seconds if there are 2 hot dogs, or if you want to add more hot dogs, then you should add 10 seconds more per every additional hot dog.
How to Microwave a Hot Dog?
This process is a bit similar to the previous one, but surely not the same. Here, you will need the same things, but the process of cooking will be different.
You should take a microwave-safe plate and place a paper towel on it. Do not make the towel wet, but leave it dry and wrap your hot dogs with it. But first, cut the hot dogs a bit (2-4 cuts per piece) to let the heat reach the middle.
Then simply wrap the hot dogs and put the plate in the microwave. After 2 minutes of cooking at medium temperature, your hot dogs will be ready. Place them in a piece of bread, add some mustard and ketchup and voila, your perfect meal is ready!
We would like to point out here the fact that the number of hot dogs defines the required cooking time, so if you cook only one hot dog, cooking time will be much shorter than when you cook 3 or 4 of them.
Two minutes of cooking is enough for 2 hot dogs, but if you cook only one hot dog, 40-50 seconds will be enough.
When you add more hot dogs, then you should prolong the cooking time for about 10-20 seconds per a hot dog.
How about Microwaving Frozen Hot Dogs?
If your hot dogs are frozen but you are really hungry or simply don’t have time to defrost it, your perfect solution would be to cook them frozen.
Let’s say that you need only two hot dogs. You should take the frozen hot dogs and wrap them in a paper towel. Using a paper towel is necessary to prevent any possible mess in the microwave if the hot dogs burst while being cooked.
Set your microwave to the high temperature for 30 seconds to thaw the hot dogs. Then open the microwave and see how your hot dogs look.
If they are completely thawed, then you can cook them the usual way – wrap them in the paper and cook for 30 seconds, if there are 2 hot dogs, or 20 seconds if there is only one hot dog. For every additional hot dog add 10 seconds more.
This time, the temperature has to be medium, not high as while thawing the hot dogs. You can also set the temperature to be at low or medium-low because your hot dogs are already warm, maybe even hot from thawing temperature.
You should have in mind the fact that if you lower the temperature, the cooking time should be a bit longer, so if the temperature is low, the cooking time for 1 hot dog which was previously thawed in a microwave should be 30 seconds.
If there are 2 hot dogs, then the cooking time at low temperature should be 40 seconds and so on – 10 more seconds for every additional hot dog.
